The Minor Planet Electronic Circulars contain information on unusual
minor planets, routine data on comets and natural satellites,
and occasional editorial announcements. They are published
on behalf of Division F of the International Astronomical Union by the
Minor Planet Center, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory,
                              Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A.

                        EDITORIAL NOTICE: DIGEST2 UPDATES

The Minor Planet Center (MPC) is announcing an update to the configuration
file and the population model of the "digest2" code used for scoring tracklets
submitted to the NEOCP (Near-Earth Object Confirmation Page). Tracklets with
digest2 scores greater than 65 are eligible to be posted to the NEOCP. These
updates will become operational on Friday, August 4th, at 14:00 UTC.

The MPC updates the population model (digest2.model.csv) to align with the
current completeness of the discovered minor planets, which stands at 1.3
million orbits. In recent years, the updates have become more frequent due
to the rapid increase in the number of discovered objects, thanks to the
dedicated efforts of large surveys. We expect the updates to become even more
frequent when the Vera Rubin Observatory (LSST) and NEO Surveyor commence
    their operations.

Furthermore, the MPC has expanded the configuration file (MPC.config), which
now includes a list of 140 observatory codes with assumed uncertainties.
These observatory codes are utilized in the computation of the digest2 score,
marking a significant expansion from the previous list of only 35 observatories

Both files can be downloaded as an archive (d2model.tar.bz2) from
    https://bitbucket.org/mpcdev/digest2/downloads/
