M.P.E.C. 2023-J76 Issued 2023 May 10, 02:11 UT The Minor Planet Electronic Circulars contain information on unusual minor planets, routine data on comets and natural satellites, and occasional editorial announcements. They are published on behalf of Division F of the International Astronomical Union by the Minor Planet Center, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network MPC@CFA.HARVARD.EDU URL https://www.minorplanetcenter.net/ ISSN 1523-6714 COMET C/1951 G2 = C/1952 C1 (Groeneveld-Palomar) M. Meyer reports that he, together with G. W. Kronk, found additional detections of probable comet X/1951 G2 (announced on IAUC 1437). These enabled them to link this object to probable comet X/1952 C1 (announced on IAUC 3246). The prefix of these objects are being changed from X/ to C/, and as per the WGSBN, the comet has been assigned the name Groeneveld-Palomar.
