         Initially reported as a possible comet by H. Weiland, who wrote "I have
    made measurements of this object that shows it to be a possible comet, with a
    size of 11.54 arc seconds in quadrature excess of the stellar profile", other
    observers have confirmed the cometary nature: H. Sato (Q62) reported a 30"
    coma, but no tail, on May 25.76-25.82 UT; S. Tilley (Q62) reported a coma in
    five stacked 60s luminance exposures on May 26.79-26.83 UT; R. Ligustri (Q62)
    reported a large 40" coma in fifteen stacked 30s exposures around May 26.67 UT;
    E. Bryssinck (Q62) reported a circular 56" coma in ten stacked 60s exposurs
    obtained around May 26.79 UT; A. R. Gibbs (I52) reported a diffuse 17" coma and
    slightly brighter 11" tail in P.A. 240, in four stacked 30s exposures around
    May 27.43 UT; R. Weryk (F51) reported a > 12" tail to the W or SW, that was
    difficult to measure around May 24.58 UT; J.-F. Soulier (W96) reported a 22"
    coma, but no tail, in thirty-five stacked 20s exposures on May 28.11-28.15 UT;
    C. Jacques (Y00) reported a 28" coma in ten stacked 30s exposures taken on May
    28.35 UT; and C. Bell (H47) reported a small, diffuse 12" cma on stacked
    exposures taken around May 29.42 UT.
