M.P.E.C. 2015-Y31 Issued 2015 Dec. 19, 01:00 UT The Minor Planet Electronic Circulars contain information on unusual minor planets and routine data on comets. They are published on behalf of Division F of the International Astronomical Union by the Minor Planet Center, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network MPC@CFA.HARVARD.EDU URL https://www.minorplanetcenter.net/ ISSN 1523-6714 RETRACTION OF 2015 YB The designation 2015 YB, announced on MPEC 2015-Y15, is being retracted. The Dec. 17 observations reported therein have been withdrawn by the observer. In addition, E. Christensen (PI, Catalina Sky Survey) informs us that the first 703 observation is involved with a background source and should be omitted. Removing this single observation reduces the object's digest2 score (based solely on the Dec. 16 observations) to only 50. The object was posted back to the NEOCP under its original temporary CSS designation, with a Hungaria-type orbit. Pre-discovery observations from F51 were then located from Dec. 8, confirming that orbit. The object will be removed from the NEOCP and designated anew, once confirming observations are obtained. Since the designation 2015 YB never appeared in a permanent MPC publication, the designation will be recorded as "omitted". Gareth V. Williams (C) Copyright 2015 MPC M.P.E.C. 2015-Y31
