During the earth encounter on May 19-20 the above geocentric ephemeris
will obviously need to be corrected for parallax, which can affect the
topocentric position by up to almost one degree. Observers with access to the
WWW are advised that for this special case of 1996 JA1 a facility for
generating a TOPOCENTRIC ephemeris for a user-specified site is included
in the Minor Planet Center's pages at
http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/cfa/ps/NEO/1996JA1.html
The WWW ephemeris is in UTC at intervals of 1 hour through May 19.0,
10 min for May 19.0-21.0 and again 1 hour for May 21.0-25.0.
Further orbital updates on MPECs are to be expected over the weekend, and
these updates will also be incorporated into the WWW.
