Carol Percy (b. 1964), a professor at the University of Toronto, studied
James Cook's 1768-1771 Endeavour journal and how it was "corrected"
for publication. She has also examined the social impact of the
standardization of English, especially as it relates to those marginalized
and/or educationally disadvantaged.
