This ReadMe.txt file was updated 2011 Apr. 24. The file in this directory contains observations submitted to the MPC that were passed through several procedures but that failed to produce verifiable linkages to known objects. This does not mean, however, that there are no observations here that belong to known objects. This file also contains repeats (both exact and near) of observations that have already been extracted and published. If a particular object is suspected to match a known object, or another object in this list, the following information should be supplied in order to have the suggestion considered by the Minor Planet Center: 1) An entry for each object, exactly in the following format: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 123456789 123456789 123456789 123456789 123456789 123456789 123456789 123456789 36S0BZ (K01Q51N 699 20010628 Cols 1-7: The designation in the ONS file for the single night object. Col 9: Left parenthesis. Cols 10-16: The packed designation of the object the ONS matches (or the temporary designation, in the case of another ONS). Cols 28-30: The observatory code for the ONS. Cols 32-39: The UT date of the first observation for the ONS. 2) For unnumbered objects, you must supply an orbit in the MPCORB format. You should also supply a residual list for all the observations included in your solution, as well as a list of published observations (in the MPC format, with references) you used in your solution. You do not supply an orbit for identifications with numbered objects. If a submission fails to meet either or both of the above two criteria, it will be ignored. Unconfirmed single-night claims of linkages to a one-opposition object at another opposition will also be ignored. If repeated erroneous suggested linkages are suggested or there are persistent inconsistences in the format of the submissions, further submissions from the same source will be routinely rejected. It is incumbent on those suggesting linkages to verify whether the linkage is already known.
