Chares of Lindos was a Greek sculptor born on the island of Rhodes. In 282 BCE he built the Colossus of Rhodes, an enormous bronze statue of the sun god Helios and one of the seven Wonders of the Ancient World. [Ref: Minor Planet Circ. 107121]
